Lisa Federer

My name is Lisa Federer, and I’m the Data Science and Open Science Librarian at the National Library of Medicine. My work primarily focuses on developing the workforce for data science by providing guidance on the skills that researchers, librarians, and others will need to succeed in an increasingly data-driven research ecosystem. I have previously held positions at the NIH Library and the UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library.

I hold an MLIS from UCLA and a PhD in Information Science from the University of Maryland. My research centers on quantifying and characterizing reuse of biomedical data – that is, how are researchers reusing shared research datasets?

When I’m not geeking out over data, I’m most likely hanging out with my most awesome dog Ophelia, reading a good book, or watching a good movie and knitting a sweater. You might also catch me hitting the slopes if it’s ski weather or going to the boxing gym if it’s not.
